To Life

Even if you are still asleep, now is the time to wake up. Pisces season lulled us in a gentle dream, dissolving our worries, but dreams can’t last forever. Wake up.

Aries season storms in, flinging open the curtains and letting sunlight and crisp air rush in. It snaps us awake, urging us to leap up and infusing every task, large or small, with fiery energy.

It feels good to come alive again. The life that felt confining during Pisces season, the life we wanted to escape by drifting into dreams, is no longer a cage. Now it pulses with vitality. Even simple routines carry a spark. Every action, from brushing your teeth to getting dressed, becomes a point of contact with life itself.

This is the time when the life-force expresses itself through action, any action.

I act, therefore I am.

I act, therefore I am alive.

I act, therefore I matter.

Action is the pulse of existence: by acting now, I create meaning. Only the present matters. Outside this moment, meaning dissolves, because life is defined only by what I do right now.

At its core, Aries is pure life-force expressed as our drive to act and steer our lives each moment. Aries energy is self-determination, free will, and freedom.

Aries is one-dimensional, and that’s its power. There’s little symbolism beyond raw will: the drive to act, move, and begin. This simplicity is formidable—ensuring survival and a primal sense of being alive. Nothing starts without Aries fire. Without it, we take no action, launch nothing, not even a morning walk.

As a single impulse, Aries is self-contained. It doesn’t reference anyone and anything else—not others’ needs, social rules, or restrictions. Aries doesn’t check if it’s allowed or wise to act; it just acts. This isn’t selfishness, but the innocence of a beginning. Aries is like a newborn: pure impulse, pure emergence, pure life-force, unaware of anything but its spark. Aries symbolizes spring, the birth of a new cycle.

This is why Aries can’t and shouldn’t drive our lives alone. Just as a child can’t run a household, the Aries impulse can’t run a life. It motivates, vitalizes, and initiates, but doesn’t reflect, learn, or plan. Aries is the flame that starts everything, but it must be guided by other, more mature archetypes. Unchecked, Aries initiates endlessly, never solidifying gains or finishing projects, always leaping without considering context. At best, this means half-baked starts; at worst, volatility—action without purpose, fire without a hearth.

That said, Aries’ dark side described above doesn’t feel dark to me. Aries is a pure fire of life, and I can’t call that dark, even though it can become harmful if out of control. Fire is powerful, and power can be used for good or evil. But fire is what makes us alive, and as such, it is sacred. This is the time of year when the sacredness of life fire is celebrated in Jewish Passover, Christian Easter, and pagan Ostara holidays.

To Life.
